From the playing field to the logo, the attention to detail is top-shelf stuff. The colors are vibrant, the lines are crisp and the look and playability of the field will be second-to-none in college baseball

Appalachian State Baseball becomes the latest Division 1 Baseball program to join the AstroTurf® Diamond Series family as they have selected the premier synthetic baseball system in the industry.
Appalachian State’s new field features the AstroTurf Diamond Series RBI System which includes multiple artificial turf components that have been specifically engineered to emulate the look, feel, and performance of both the grass and clay portions of a baseball field. Diamond Series turf systems from AstroTurf are well-known throughout the sport of baseball for delivering the ultimate in playability, durability and ballpark aesthetics. Well over fifty Division 1 Baseball schools are playing on the Diamond Series which accounts for over 70% of all D1 baseball schools with artificial turf.
“We are thrilled with the outcome of our new AstroTurf Diamond Series playing surface,” said Appalachian State Head Coach Kermit Smith. “From the playing field to the logo, the attention to detail is top-shelf stuff. The colors are vibrant, the lines are crisp and the look and playability of the field will be second-to-none in college baseball. We cannot wait to see our student-athletes play on it next season.”
“We are ecstatic that Appalachian State has decided to join the AstroTurf Diamond Series Family,” said AstroTurf Director of Baseball Operations, Aaron Klotz. “They were looking for a state-of-the-art turf system that would give them the look, feel, and play of natural grass and that’s just what they are getting with this premium surface. Every other company in the industry is trying to imitate the AstroTurf® Diamond Series but they have all fallen way short in their attempt to duplicate the preferred system of most D1 Baseball programs.”
The installation at Beaver Field at Jim and Bettie Smith Stadium has just been completed and is available for the Mountaineers to begin practicing on it. Appalachian State competes in the East Division of the Sun Belt Conference.
Appalachian State is now a member of a long list of AstroTurf Diamond Series customers that include elite programs such as Vanderbilt, Michigan, Kentucky, Duke, Ohio State, Washington State, West Virginia and many, many more.
