RF Safe Warns Parents: New Apple AirPods Could Be Dangerous to Children
(PRWEB) October 07, 2016 -- The American Academy of Pediatrics has issued new recommendations on the way children should use cell phones and wireless devices.
The AAP advises that texting, or hands-free kits should be utilized. Children should hold the cell phone at least an inch away from their head while talking, and to keep the length of the call short. Cell phone manufacturers cannot guarantee that the amount of radiation a child will be absorbing will be at a safe level, so carrying a phone against your body should be avoided.
Infants and toddlers should never play with, or hold cell phones. “Children’s skulls are thinner and can absorb more radiation,” says the AAP.
RF Safe wants to remind parents that a similar warning can be found in every iPhone user’s manual, and in the in the legal section of Apple’s website.
With the release of the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, comes the removal of the standard 3.5mm headphone jack, and the introduction of the wireless AirPod.
Airpods are powered by Bluetooth technology, and transmit low-intensity radiowaves into your ear. Health experts warn that the wireless earbuds could have a devastating impact on the brain due to cell phone radiation.
Dr Joel Moskowitz, a professor at the UC Berekely School of Public Health says, “Although we don’t know the long-term risks from using Bluetooth devices, why would anyone insert microwave-emitting devices in their ears near their brain when there are safer ways to use a cell phone? Essentially I recommend using corded headsets or hands-free use of cell phones, not wireless ear buds.”
The information released by the AAP found that 8-10 year-olds are spending eight hours a day with various digital media, while teenagers spend 11 hours in front of screens. One in three children are using tablets and smartphones.
