Tweet Earth available now for iPad

With Tweet Earth, users can gain a whole new understanding and awareness of what’s trending, where, when and by whom.

Users around the world who want to experience the Twitterverse in a remarkably innovative, informative and interesting new way, can now head to the App Store and download the unique iPad app Tweet Earth from Digital Emergence.

Designed exclusively for iOS 7.0 and featuring all of the tools found in a traditional Twitter Client (e.g. view home timeline, see user information, search for topics, tweet, re-tweet and so on), Tweet Earth goes much further by visually representing where a topic is the most popular worldwide. Here’s how it works:

Tweet Earth pinpoints a Tweeter’s whereabouts via geo-tagging data, or based on declared location. It then displays the tweet in a speech bubble on an HD graphic of the Earth. For example, a tweet emanating from New York City will be superimposed at the correct longitude and latitude, as will a Tweet from London, Tokyo, and so on. And what about tweets without a geo-tag or a declared location -- which is about 33% of them? Cleverly, they’re sent to the app’s HD graphic of the moon.

In addition, with meticulous attention to detail, Tweet Earth actually places the sun in proximity to a tweet based on when it was sent. For example, a tweet with the sun just to the right of it will tell users at-a-glance that it was tweeted at dawn.

Plus, users who want to follow someone’s trip across a country, continent or globe will find that Tweet Earth makes the process much more insightful and interesting. Other Tweet Earth special features include the ability to view re-tweeter distribution, and the option of viewing the followers of a user.

“Each day, over 500 million Tweets are sent by people around the world,” commented Philippe Kunzle of Digital Emergence. “And now with Tweet Earth, users can gain a whole new understanding and awareness of what’s trending, where, when and by whom. It’s a totally new way to experience Twitter!”
