These ACE awards are a great indication that our work is valued within the general contracting community, and we’re incredibly excited to be recognized for the work we do.

Adolfson & Peterson Construction (AP) took home two first-place awards at this year’s AGC Colorado Industry Gala & ACE Awards, the state's largest commercial building construction event of the year.

The University of Colorado Campus Commons project won an ACE Award for Construction Excellence for Meeting the Challenges of a Difficult Job. Campus Commons is an innovative campus navigation and support center for students, while being a showcase for the University’s highly regarded music and musical-theater programs. Designed by Semple Brown, the project’s many unique features make this a one-of-a-kind project and presented challenges this project team has never seen before and likely won’t again. Given the slope of the 6.5-acre site, construction started with extreme amounts of excavation and with a foundation that combines grade beams and more than 180 caissons.

The Aurora Central Recreation Center project won an ACE Award for Construction Excellence for Best Building Project, $10-$40M. Funded through marijuana tax revenue, this new recreation center is a major addition to the parks and recreation amenities for Aurora residents - the first time in 40 years the City was able to build a new recreational facility. On the 20-acre site is a new two-story, 60,285-sf recreation center. Designed by Populous, the facility features an aquatics area, gymnasium, elevated walking/jogging track, fitness area, teaching kitchen, party rooms, multi-purpose rooms, group exercise rooms, offices and locker rooms. Unique design features include an interactive video water slide, a wave pool and a fitness grandstand that is full of possibility for group fitness classes and individual exercise.

“Being awarded by AGC is a huge honor,” said AP’s Regional President, Tom Horsting. “These ACE awards are a great indication that our work is valued within the general contracting community, and we’re incredibly excited to be recognized for the work we do.”

The AGC Colorado Industry Gala & ACE Awards brings together General Contractors, specialty contractors, architects, owners, professional firms supporting the industry, key leaders and staff from related associations, legislators and other industry supporters for a night of networking, recognition, and celebration.
