Aragon Research Globe for Team Collaboration 2019

Aragon Research identifies 18 major providers in the team collaboration market.

With so many communications and collaboration tools available, email simply cannot match the speed of some of the instant messaging methods of enterprise social networks.

Aragon identifies eighteen major providers in its fourth annual Aragon Research Globe for Team Collaboration, published today. The report states that one of the biggest opportunities for team collaboration is for work automation. This is where chatbots and digital assistants come into play, which will become key for the increased levels of human-to-machine interactions in the digital workplace.

At the core of team collaboration is messaging, however, it’s much more than just providing a messaging platform; it is now a means to get work done and facilitate teamwork and team building, especially for people who are on-the-go. By year end 2021, Aragon predicts team collaboration will overtake email as the way that knowledge workers collaborate with each other.

“With so many communications and collaboration tools available, email simply cannot match the speed of some of the instant messaging methods of enterprise social networks,” said Jim Lundy, CEO of Aragon Research. “Enterprises should evaluate team collaboration solutions on their ability to integrate with business applications, workflows, and processes.”

In the report, Aragon states team collaboration is comprised of four main elements:

-Context; Business Process Management
-Enterprise Apps
-Productivity
-Workflow
The infrastructure of team collaboration includes presence, profiles, activity streams and news feeds, directory support, and administration. Aragon identifies the key interaction modes as:

  • Messaging: text chat/IM
  • Voice and video calling
  • Persistent group chat
  • Web and video conferencing
  • File sharing and document collaboration
  • Tasks
  • Chatbots

The providers evaluated in this Globe report include: Amazon, Avaya, Cisco, Fuze, Google, LogMeIn, Lua, Mattermost, Microsoft, Mitel, RingCentral, Samepage, ServiceMax, Slack, Symphony, TigerConnect, Unify, and WhatsApp.

Enterprises should use this Globe report to help them begin evaluating team collaboration providers and to understand where the market is headed. Aragon clients can access The Aragon Research Globe for Team Collaboration, 2019 in the AIN client community or on aragonresearch.com.
