ST. LOUIS, Oct. 10, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Arch Express, St. Louis' premier local courier service, is hosting a coat drive on Saturday, November 3, from 10am to 2pm to benefit St. Patrick Center, an agency working to ending chronic homelessness in the St. Louis region. Winter items (coats, hats, gloves, and scarves) can be dropped off at the Arch Express delivery truck that will be located in the parking lot of The Vault Luxury Resale (2325 S Brentwood Blvd, Brentwood, MO).
November is National Homelessness Awareness month and Arch Express wanted to do something to help the community and use one of their fleet vehicles to make donations easy. As winter nears, the homeless community greatly needs outdoor gear to stay warm.
"We want folks to come by as they are out running errands to drop off men's, women's and children's coats in any size, gloves, and hats, and let us do the heavy lifting," said Arch Express President and Co-founder, Anna Goessling. "Giving back to the community is extremely important to us, especially during this season of Thanksgiving."
St. Patrick Center has assisted individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless for 35 years. Last year, the organization directly assisted 5,900 individuals and families, including 1,500 with housing support and 620 new housing placements. About a third of St. Patrick Center's funding comes through the donations of area businesses and individuals.
Another St. Louis business, The Vault Luxury Resale, is also investing in this mission by hosting the winter apparel collection point at their centrally-located Brentwood address. Owner Sue McCarthy has a personal connection to the cause, having experienced homelessness herself. "I was homeless as a child and can relate to overcoming the associated challenges," she said. "I'm thrilled to be partnering with Arch Express to help support the mission of St. Patrick Center."
While St. Patrick Center is most in need of men's coats, all donations are welcome.
St. Patrick Center is so grateful to be chosen as the beneficiary of Arch Express' winter apparel drive," said Katie Joseph, Senior Manager of Development at St. Patrick Center. "It is through initiatives like these and donations throughout the community that our Center is able to continually expand to help more people."
