ARCOS® LLC, the market leader for utility and critical infrastructure resource-management solutions, has opened the doors at its new headquarters at 8800 Lyra Drive in Columbus with a ribbon-cutting welcoming employees to a vibrant, creative, and collaborative space that departs drastically from the traditional design the company vacated earlier this year at Crosswoods on Hutchinson Avenue in Columbus.
“Our design suggests simplicity, clarity and invention; it’s equally accessible as a center for innovation, executive briefings, or bringing together our customer steering committee to guide our product portfolio,” says ARCOS CEO Odus “Boogie” Wittenburg. “And even though many of our employees have been (and will continue) working remotely, the new HQ is an exciting place to host clients and come together in teams to collaborate and spark the creativity we have.”
Columbus-based Tenfold, a strategy and creative agency, designed the space with input from ARCOS’s team including a mix of newly hired and long-tenured staff. The project’s architect is Columbus-based MS Consultants Inc.
Prior to the pandemic, ARCOS entertained plans of expanding its square footage. But with the shift to remote work, employees gained an appreciation for what they could accomplish professionally and personally away from an office. Despite the benefits, ARCOS employees said they also wanted the option to connect and collaborate with their colleagues in-person. When the software maker’s lease expired earlier this year, ARCOS Director of People Operations Kelly Homan led the initiative to help create the new headquarters in the Polaris region with a 7,000-square-foot design that accommodates nearly 120 workers. Approximately 40 percent of ARCOS employees live in Central Ohio. The company’s Central Ohio clients include AEP and Columbia Gas.
“Remote work brings many benefits, but we’re also a company that likes having contact with one another and our customers,” Homan adds. “We’re giving everyone the best of both worlds – the option to work virtually but also an incredible, new space to visit when either executive briefings or daily business call for that.”
The new headquarters offers workstations for "hoteling." But the overarching theme of the new design features ways to work together around couches and tables, dinner-style booths, and conference rooms. If a client call requires a quieter level of activity, there are traditional offices available to staff as needed.
