Author Arthur Wenk releases the next chapter in the Axel Crochet series, “Quarter Note Tales #4: An Axel Crochet Trilogy” (published by iUniverse). The book contains three independent novellas, two set in academic life, the third in a large Anglican church.

In this trilogy of murder mysteries, a curious musicologist with a propensity for attracting mayhem must overcome professional jealousies, evil plots and bizarre chains of events. In “Cat’s Paw,” Axel investigates the sudden death of a university organist. In the “The Carcassonne Codex,” Axel becomes entangled in a treacherous murder plot when a hotel housemaid thrusts a mysterious pill bottle into his hand. In “If Thine Eye Offend Thee” Axel, newly-appointed music director, encounters a disharmonious welcome from an abusive rector and a sinister senior warden.

Fans of Axel Crochet will not be disappointed as the musicologist sleuth stumbles into murderous intrigue amid church politics and academic amphigory, where tempers run so high because the stakes are so low.
