About Arts Brookfield Live! Sounds of LA:

May 14th – Raquel Rodriguez
Los Angeles singer Raquel Rodriguez and her band play soul how it was always meant to be played. Their 2013 full-length debut Miss Me boasts a collection of impassioned, invigorating, and irresistible songs that are as fresh as they are fiery. Raquel's song "Already Beat" is in the season 6 premiere of FX's hit show, Sons of Anarchy.

May 28th – Irene Diaz
Irene Diaz is Los Angeles’ modern day torch singer-songwriter and has gone on to gain national acclaim in a short time. NPR’s Don Gonyea says, “Anyone who hears her voice will wonder where she has been all this time. She brings back classical American soul and blues and elevates it to a whole new level for today’s audience…. quite possibly, someday [Irene] could join Ella and Nina and Billie and Rosemary as a queen of torch.”

June 11th – Boom Boom Boom
Boom Boom Boom is an ensemble that defines its sound as an “acoustically aggressive jungle boogie freestyle getdown.” Led by front man Joe Green, this crowd favorite will have audiences dancing, clapping, yelling, singing, and shaking.

June 25th – Subsuelo
LA Weekly calls Subsuelo the “Best Party in East LA … part hip-hop scene, part cumbia club” and URB Magazine describes it as “the melting pot between cumbia, electro, tropical funk, moombahton, trap, hip hop, and all points in between.” Renowned Flamenco dancer La Tigresa is accompanied by a blend of traditional Spanish guitar and modern beats to bring you the unique LA sound of Subsuelo.

July 9th – Ethio Cali
Ethio Cali is a Los Angeles-based Ethio-Jazz ensemble who's sublime sound is inspired by the golden age of Ethiopian music of the 1960s and 70s, filtered through a lens that is uniquely Los Angeles. Acknowledging the diverse musical foundations of Ethio-Jazz, the ensemble also draws inspiration from the rhythmic and melodic textures of Sudan, Somalia, Ghana, and Colombia.

July 23rd – Grupo Los Dreamers
Grupo Los Dreamers is LA’s newest Salsa and Latin Pop band led by Edgar Hernandez, musical director of the Latin Grammy-nominated Charanga Cubana. Made up of the next generation of Cuban musicians making their mark in Los Angeles, Grupo Los Dreamers serve up a tasty palate of Latin rhythms and sounds reflective of their roots and local favorites.
