Registration is open for the May 22nd Meeting covering Form 5500 Updates and an Update on What's Happening in Retirement.
PITTSBURGH, May 15, 2019 The ASPPA Benefits Council (ABC) of Western Pennsylvania announces the first CE session of 2019. Registration is open until May 17th and retirement plan sponsors and professionals are invited to attend.
Sponsored by Buck Global, LLC, speakers Cynthia Hall, Matthew Davis and Kelly Lazzara, will provide an in-depth discussion concerning Form 5500 and find out what's happening in the retirement industry.
Meeting Topics:
Form 5500 Updates
This segment will include a summary of the changes to the 2018 Form 5500 and the increased penalties for failing to timely file. Highlights will include a discussion on agency relief for victims of recent disasters, increased DOL audit activity, and an update regarding the changes to ERISA auditing standards.
An Update on What's Happening in Retirement
This segment will recap recent defined benefit and defined contribution retirement plan developments. Highlights include a discussion on the class action lawsuits involving actuarial equivalence, DOL guidance on auto-portability, new rules for hardship distributions, legislative proposals and recent pension de-risking trends.

Meet the Speakers:
Cynthia Hall, QKA, QPFC - Cindi is a Senior Consultant in Buck's National Knowledge Resource Center. She has over 30 years' experience in the areas of compliance reviews/audits, benefits administration, plan design, various IRS/DOL filings, ADP/ACP testing, legislative/regulatory interpretation, QDRO reviews, and various other consulting services relating to retirement plans. She has an in-depth knowledge of administrative processes and procedures and her special area of expertise includes handling compliance matters relating to defined contribution plans. Cindi co-chairs the Government Filings Center of Excellence.
Matthew Davis, ASA, EA, CERA, MAAA - Matthew is a Director and Consulting Actuary in Buck's Pittsburgh Wealth Practice. For over 10 years, Matt has consulted with his clients on a variety of topics, including defined benefit, defined contribution, and non-qualified retirement programs. His expertise covers all aspects of defined benefit plans, including retirement plan design, defined benefit plan administration, financial accounting, plan funding, and nondiscrimination testing. Matt leads Buck's Plan Design Center of Excellence and is a member of the Nondiscrimination Testing Center of Excellence. He has also spent time as Innovation Network Leader, helping to develop and foster innovative solutions for clients.
Kelly Lazzara, JD from Buck Global LLC - Kelly is a Director and Compliance Consultant in Buck's National Knowledge Resource Center. Kelly has extensive experience consulting on employee benefits law impacting tax-qualified retirement plans and health and welfare plans – from compliance, design and drafting, general research and advice with respect to specific and timely issues, such as the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018, Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, pending legislation, COBRA, HIPAA and the Affordable Care Act. Kelly works with her clients on the day to day administrative issues and on complex issues they face with their plans and co-chairs the Government Filings Center of Excellence.
