By further leveraging the power and convenience of the Internet, Release 6.1 will soon deliver even more functions in minimum time. A new SmartQ feature will provide location-based intelligence to eSSETS’ facility software. Roberts notes, “SmartQ will allow system administrators to define relevant lists of “Places” and “Things” for all staff making facilities asset management requests.” Improved asset labeling is also on the horizon. 6.1 will provide for a more modern labeling alternative by incorporating the use of two-dimensional QR Codes. Vital asset information, including lifecycle and maintenance history, will be a click away via built-in smartphone or iPhone/iPad cameras, eliminating the need for specialized barcode readers.
