Atlanta Air Conditioning Repair Company Recently Installed 7 Chillers on 6 Buildings in Atlantic Station
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) March 19, 2014 -- Atlanta air conditioning repair company Bardi Mechanical recently installed seven chillers on the rooftops of six buildings in Atlantic Station on Atlantic Drive NW between 17th and 18th streets. The chillers were delivered and placed via helicopter and the installation required surrounding streets, as well as the entire complex, to close as a safety precaution. The helicopter started setting the first chiller around 8:15am and finished setting the seventh chiller around 10:00am.
A chiller is a large machine used in air conditioning systems that uses water to cool and dehumidify the air stream. In this system, chilled water is distributed to heat exchangers throughout the buildings’ cooling systems. Cooling coils actually transfer the heat to the water, thus removing it from the air to circulate cooled and dehumidified air. The warmed water is re-circulated to the chiller to be cooled again. A byproduct of this process is waste heat that is usually removed from the system.
Six buildings received chillers installed by Bardi technicians. The buildings are multi-use and include retail space on the ground floor, office spaces on intermediate floors and residential units or condos on the upper floors. The chillers were installed for the residential units in the 17th Street Lofts and the ATLofts buildings.
“Chillers are very large, bulky and heavy equipment that can weigh several tons. The chillers for this installation were flown to the building and delivered by helicopter, so the surrounding area was evacuated out of an abundance of caution,” said Ricke Jenkins, Commercial Service and Planned Maintenance Specialist at Bardi Mechanical. “Our team of technicians worked quickly and efficiently to install the chillers on each building. This season is a great time to have an air conditioning system inspected or installed because the temperature is still relatively mild, so most businesses and homes aren’t yet heavily relying on their air conditioners.”
