AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am Annual Birdies for Charity to Launch
Monterey, California (PRWEB) August 30, 2013 -- Monterey Peninsula Foundation is pleased to announce that registration for the annual Birdies for Charity® program begin September 1. The program will officially launch November 1. New this year, each month the Foundation will award $1,000 to the charity that raises the most money through the program.
All qualified charitable organizations are invited to participate in this unique fundraiser which is tied to the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am and benefits area charities. Registration and program information are available at http://www.attpbgolf.com/charity/birdies-for-charity.
Information sessions for interested nonprofits are scheduled for the following dates: Tuesday, September 17 from 9:00 am - 10:00 am; Monday, September 23 from 9:00 am - 10:00 am; Thursday, October 10 from 9:00 am - 10:00 am; and Tuesday, October 15 from 9:00 am - 10:00 am. All sessions will be held at the Monterey Peninsula Foundation office, located at One Lower Ragsdale Drive, Building 3, Suite 100 in Monterey and registration is required. Last year 92 charities collectively raised over $850,000 through this program, a new record, and Monterey Peninsula Foundation donated an additional $137,000 in matching funds. To date over $2.2 million has been raised for nonprofit organizations through Birdies for Charity®.
Birdies for Charity® is a pledge drive based on the total number of birdies made by PGA TOUR professionals during the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Donors may make a flat donation or pledge a per-birdie amount. All charitable organizations with a 501(c) (3) designation are eligible to participate, subject to approval. Monterey Peninsula Foundation bears all administrative costs for the program.
Net proceeds from the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am go to support a wide variety of charitable organizations. Since its inception in 1937 the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am has generated over $110 million for charity. The tournament is scheduled for the week of February 3–9, 2014.
