New Orleans, LA (PRWEB) June 17, 2014
Audubon Zoo, Audubon Aquarium of the Americas, Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium and Audubon Park are the recipients of a 2014 Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor.
The honor goes annually to those attractions that get consistently high ratings on the popular travel review website.
“We are very proud to be recognized with a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence,” said Audubon Nature Institute President and CEO Ron Forman. “We are striving to create a special place where the children of New Orleans can make childhood memories. But we also want to become a top destination where families from everywhere can visit our city and enjoy all that Audubon has to offer.”
Audubon Nature Institute has been at the forefront of a decades-long effort by the city’s hospitality industry to change the perception that New Orleans is an adult-only destination. To that end, Audubon continuously adds to its list of family-friendly activities.
At Audubon Zoo, children and parents alike can enjoy the award-winning Louisiana Swamp and Jaguar Jungle, which showcase the connections between nature and people. Families can learn about endangered species, including whooping cranes, orangutans and Amur leopards. And visitors can get up close and personal with sea lions, elephants and white alligators.
The Certificate of Excellence puts the spotlight on businesses that consistently garner excellent reviews from travelers on TripAdvisor. Attractions, restaurants, accommodations, and even vacation rentals are eligible for the Certificate of Excellence, and close to 58,000 businesses received the recognition this year.
Audubon Zoo and adjacent Audubon Park are located in uptown New Orleans; Audubon Aquarium of the Americas is located downtown on the Mississippi River; and Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium is located on historic Canal Street.
