According to the Autism Speaks Walk website, the event is an opportunity to raise money as well as community awareness to help those who deal with autism.
“Participating in Autism Speaks Walk empowers you to make a difference and provides you with an opportunity to honor someone with autism,” organizers said. “Everyone is touched by autism in a different way.”
The walk will help raise funds to:
“Fund biomedical research into the causes, prevention, treatments, and possible cure for autism.”
“Raise public awareness about autism and its effects on individuals, families and society.”
“Bring hope to all who deal with the hardships of this disorder.”
“Bring together the autism community as one strong voice to urge the government and private sector to take action.”
According to organizers, there are a number of events taking place inside Tropicana Field, including face painting, a drum circle, and fun-filled activities. The walk itself will take place outside the stadium. Check-in and registration is at 9 a.m. The one-mile walk begins at 10:30 a.m. “rain or shine.” Entry is at Gate 1.
