Kent Bell, Author of “Look Ma, No Hands, No Legs Either,” Highlighted in Author Solutions Real Authors, Real Impact Campaign
Bloomington, IN (PRWEB) October 29, 2014 -- Author Solutions, LLC, a Penguin Random House company and the world’s leading provider of supported self-publishing services, is featuring iUniverse author Kent Bell as part of its ongoing Real Authors, Real Impact campaign.
Born without arms and legs, Bell wasn’t expected to live more than 24 hours, but miraculously, 49 years later, he’s accomplished more in life than the average person. An avid sports enthusiast, he was the first disabled person to work the scoreboard during the 2004 Olympic men’s basketball games. Bell has never let his disability get in the way of living a full life.
“I work at the University of North Florida. I have water-skied, I play wheelchair soccer. I can basically do normally what everybody else can do, it’s just in a different position,” Bell says.
In his new book, “Look Ma, No Hands, No Legs Either,” Bell opens up about his childhood and how he did not let his disability define him shape him into the man he is today. Bell said that even without arms and legs, he tries to stay active and keep a positive outlook—a message he delivers in his book.
Bell added that he believes that a wide variety of people could benefit from learning about his life; from those facing their own obstacles to those who help others.
“I’d like to reach doctors, nurses, people in jail who are wasting their lives, teens who are troubled, people going through trials or are contemplating suicide, wounded warriors, the military community, churches, and to help people understand people with disabilities and how to treat them,” Bell said. “The list is endless.
“I hope to help people be grateful for what they have, to be hopeful, to keep striving to do better and to keep a positive attitude. If I can do it, they can do it,” Bell said.
