C.J. Wilkinson, a Tennessee resident who loves her husband, children, grandchildren, and riding horses, has completed her new book “Inside the Cook County Jail”: a devastating exploration of the deeds of inmates, and the guards tasked with protecting them.

“Cynthia just wanted to do her job: keep the peace and encourage rehabilitation, but it wasn’t that simple,” C.J. Wilkinson said of the protagonist of her book. “The young officer soon found herself in an uphill struggle against bureaucratic indifference and corruption. When she spoke out on behalf of the inmates and her coworkers, asking only that the system obey its own rules in respect to their treatment, she was shamefully harassed and ostracized.”

Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, C.J. Wilkinson’s work is an inside glimpse at a place most citizens never see, but forever leaves an impact on those who have experienced it first hand.

“Cynthia meets inmates from all walks of life, of diverse nationalities, and accused of every horrific crime imaginable—including murder and cannibalism,” Wilkinson continues explaining of her work. “She also meets far too many guards who were distinguishable from the inmates only by their uniforms: drug dealers, sadists, drug addicts, and racists.”

Readers who wish to see just what goes on inside behind those concertina covered gates can purchase “Inside the Cook County Jail” at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.
