SAN DIEGO, Calif., Nov. 29, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Leslie Petrone had a spark for life that is shown throughout her mother, Julie Torres-Johnson's, new book "Women Who Take Your Breath Away: The Leslie Petrone Story." As a little girl, Leslie had difficulty gaining weight, was very small and had frequent bouts of bronchitis, but that never once slowed her down. Leslie would make friends wherever she went and loved her family deeply. It wasn't until she was four years old that they would gain answers to her health problems. She was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, a genetic disease that causes severe damage to the lungs, and it was predicted that she would not live past the age of seven. Leslie defeated the odds and lived until age 50.
Torres-Johnson published her debut book as a promise to her daughter that she would follow her dream after Leslie passed away. That dream was to write a book detailing their 50-year journey together. Torres-Johnson did just that by releasing "Women Who Take Your Breath Away." This book shares not only Leslie's battle against cystic fibrosis but also the love between a mother and daughter.
"This beautifully written true story captures a mother's love, the anguish of disease, the premature out-of-order loss of a child and finding the will to carry on when your heart has been broken into a million pieces. Julie Johnson opens her heart and shares the gift of Leslie with us as well as her legacy which has changed the lives of many for the better, forever," a reviewer wrote about the book.
"Women Who Take Your Breath Away" will open the eyes of many to the difficulties that those suffering from cystic fibrosis face throughout their lives. Throughout the pages, readers will witness the unbreakable bond Leslie and her mother had and those struggling through times of uncertainty will resonate with the author's daughter's inspiring story.
