Three Author Solutions Titles Honored with 2015 IPPY Awards
Bloomington, IN (PRWEB) June 01, 2015 -- Author Solutions, LLC, a Penguin Random House company and the world leader in supported self-publishing services, announced Monday that two iUniverse titles have been recognized with 2015 IPPY National Medalist honors, and a Balboa Press release picked up e-Book Medalist recognition.
“Still Running” by Nathaniel Northington; (iUniverse – ISBN: 978-1475991185), received the Silver Medal in the Sports/Fitness/Recreation category. Northington’s autobiographical work recounts his trials of being the first African-American to play in college football’s Southeastern Conference. A running back for the University of Kentucky, Northington shares a glimpse into how he and other black football players fought on the gridiron throughout the civil rights movement to achieve success both on and off the field.
Another inspirational work, “Wheelchair Wisdom: Awaken Your Spirit through Adversity,” by Linda Noble Topf; (iUniverse/Berrett-Koehler- ISBN: 978-1491748046) picked up the Bronze Medal in the Self-Help genre. An ordained minister, wellness coach, professional speaker, and author, she assists others in seeing how chronic illness—or any adversity—can be viewed as an opportunity for personal growth. Linda’s first book, “You Are Not Your Illness: Seven Principles for Meeting the Challenge,” was published by Simon & Schuster in 1995.
Finally, “Legacy,” by Ellery Kane; (Balboa Press – ISBN: 9781452520414); was honored as the Gold Medalist winning Juvenile/Young Adult Fiction book. In this dystopian thriller, a teenage girl is sent by her scientist mother to bring valuable information to those in rebellion against the totalitarian government. Lex Knightley's mother, Victoria, is a famous psychiatric researcher who specialized in creating powerful mood-altering drugs, most famously Emovere, which suppresses fear. When the drug is discovered to be dangerous, the federal government clamps down on the chaos, but not soon enough.
Awarded annually since 1997 by the publishing-trade publication “Independent Publisher,” the IPPYs recognize excellence in independent publishing. Thousands of books were considered for national honors, and more than a thousand competed for regional medals this year.
