End of the Year Brings Three More Acquisitions of Author Solutions Titles by Traditional Publishers
Bloomington, IN (PRWEB) December 18, 2013 -- Author Solutions, LLC, the world leader in supported self-publishing, announced recently that three titles self-published through its imprints have been acquired by traditional publishers. The latest successes conclude a year in which self-published authors continued to draw interest from a wide array of traditional publishers.
“We are delighted that authors are increasingly drawn towards supported self-publishing as a way of telling their stories, as well as increasing their discoverability by traditional publishers. It is always a pleasure to see new voices acquired by great publishing houses,” said Andrew Phillips, Author Solutions president and CEO.
On November 21, Penguin’s Putnam announced the acquisition of “My Mother’s Secret,” the debut work of J.L. Witterick, which she originally self-published through iUniverse. This historical novel is based on the heroics of a mother and daughter who harbored two Jewish families and a defecting Nazi soldier, during the Holocaust.
On December 2, Hay House revealed it had acquired the rights to “Embrace Your Magnificence: Get Out of Your Own Way and Live a Richer, Fuller and More Abundant Life,” the inaugural work of entrepreneur and speaker Fabienne Frederickson. Frederickson originally self-published her inspirational “message of courage and love to women everywhere” in July 2013 through Balboa Press, the self-publishing division of Hay House.
Finally, two days later, The Feminist Press—a literary nonprofit publisher—announced a deal with a trio of legal experts, Dina Bakst, Elizabeth Gedmark and Phoebe Taubman, to republish “Babygate: What You Really Need to Know about Pregnancy and Parenting in the American Workplace.” First released through iUniverse in April 2013, “Babygate” provides new parents with a step-by-step guide to navigating the challenges of returning to work after the birth of a child.
