WEST NEWTON, Mass., Sept. 21, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Automatic Laundry, a leading laundry service provider to the college and university market in the Northeast, has upgraded the student laundry equipment at Bentley University in Waltham, MA to operate with its proprietary LaundryConnect™ Pay app, a closed-loop mobile payment system which revolutionizes the way resident students pay to use the laundry equipment. Students download the app from either the Apple App Store or Google Play store (Android app). After loading an initial balance with either a debit or credit card, students can start the equipment using their smartphone's existing Bluetooth feature. Given that cell signals aren't always the best in basement laundry rooms, cell phone service is not a requirement to start the laundry equipment.
Automatic Laundry partnered with Bentley to replace their increasingly obsolete and expensive online campus card system with LaundryConnect™ Pay. Students now easily load funds anywhere and at any time with their smartphones, and seamlessly purchase laundry services without having to physically handle coins, cash or use a card. The mobile platform accepts all major card brands. All transactions are TLS 1.1 or higher encrypted by your smartphone when connecting to our PCI-certified transaction host for the latest in transaction security
"The University was facing the prospect of incurring a significant capital expense to upgrade their legacy system", said Scott Scarpato, Automatic Laundry's President. "We were able to offer the University our LaundryConnect™ Pay app, which allowed Bentley to circumvent a large hardware expense and ongoing support fees while at the same time enhancing the overall student laundering experience."
Since implementation of the platform campus wide in August, approximately 3,000 students have already downloaded the app and begun using it with great success. "Given the importance of smartphones to our student customers, it only makes sense to align the payment system with the way they manage their daily lives", added Scarpato.
