Tallahassee, FL (PRWEB) September 26, 2013
Florida State University Credit Union recently won the first place Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award. Patrick La Pine, LSCU President/CEO, presented the award to FSUCU Marketing Director Harmony Nagy.
The Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award recognizes model credit union efforts to strengthen local institutions and materially improve the lives of nonmembers through community outreach programs.
The League of Southeastern Credit Unions and Affiliates presented the Maxwell award to credit unions in eight asset-size categories and a multiple credit union group category for outstanding social responsibility projects in their communities. FSUCU won first place in the $100 to $200 million assets category for the states of Florida and Alabama, which was presented at the Tallahassee Chapter of Credit Union meeting on Monday, August 26.
State winners advance to national competition for judging. The national judging is conducted by the National Credit Union Administration in October.
FSUCU's entry focused on a unique project that fulfills community needs at a level outside the traditional role of a financial institution. The online resource, http://www.TallyConnection.com, supports the needs of the community by allowing residents to gather a vast array of important information about their community in one central location. In addition, TallyConnection allows community members to interact with one another to learn more about what their community has to offer. Tools are provided to allow users to self-educate on central themes such as couponing to save money, where and how to volunteer in the community and how to become more involved. It is important for residents to communicate in order to feel like part of a community; TallyConnection provides this platform.
