Advantage US Vets Inc Sets its Sights on a Farm Near Oneonta, New York
Clayville, NY (PRWEB) September 30, 2013 -- AUV has found a workplace to hire recently discharged unemployed veterans, a beautiful farm for sale in upstate New York, in the historic Leatherstocking region of rural Cooperstown and Oneonta.
This is a workplace where AUV can hire veterans to work in exchange for competitive, living wages and benefits. The property is beautiful. It’s a gem!
This working farm fits AUV's mission and goals well, really well.
Yes, other upstate New York properties have held promise but the suitability of this Charlotte Creek gem fulfills AUV’s goal for space and serenity, close to educational and recreational opportunities.
The intended Roots & Sprouts Farmstead is ideally located to leverage community partnerships while building new collaborations across academia, non-profits, social and cultural entities.
The grounds and buildings create a community within a shelter of forests, pastures, ponds and creeks, tillable acreage and long meandering trails. The farm has barns and arenas; a lodge, guesthouses and apartments spread over 153 acres. Every aspect of the meticulously maintained property is designed for gracious, relaxed 5-star country hospitality and productivity.
Earlier the property was a family compound boosting professional horse breeding programs, training and riding facilities. AUV sees the property potential for our veterans, for training and assistance, new experiences, new connections and personal renewal.
Currently there are four guesthouses ready to host overnight guests, croplands ready to grow toxin-free produce, grain and flower crops; shelters for horses and dogs and a center for community reach outs.
The Double L Lodge, built in contemporary log and beam style, is The Farmstead gathering place. It is warm and welcoming with a grand great room, space for the Cohorts’ Craft Shop, porches with see-forever views, and a lower level coffee bar and commercial gym.
The two story 1860s farmhouse with a nearly new commercial kitchen and “double parlor” dining room will house the four Advocate-Managers and on call staff; and host staff meals. The separate lower level apartment will host our mobility-impaired guests.
A Community Life Well Lived
The farm is currently owned and managed by a native New Yorker, “Mr. L” who sought the beauty and serenity of the Leatherstocking region to pursue his second career. He plans to remain in the area but he is now ready to travel and enjoy different vistas and seeks a new owner for his beloved property.
“Mr. L.” has signed on to AUV as a benefactor. He is committed to an incremental purchase plan allowing AUV to purchase parcels separately as it raises the necessary funds for a complete farmstead. “Mr. L.” is also committed to providing an endowment for AUV from his Charitable Remaining Trust.
The property fits AUV’s mission and goals well, really well.
This farm property and Mr. L’s offer are too good to pass up.
