AVANU Addresses Cyber Attacks Costing Businesses Billions of Dollars with Security Enhancements to WebMux Network Traffic Managers for Local Layers 4-7 Load Balancing
San Jose, CA (PRWEB) March 26, 2014 -- AVANU today announces the release of firmware version 10.0.02 for the WebMux Network Traffic Manager 64-bit platform models enhancing the security and compliance features. WebMux is a load balancing solution for managing, directing, controlling, and securing Layers 4-7 local network traffic. The new enhancements include better management of allowed ciphers to meet the Payment Card Industry (PCI DSS) regulations, expanded support of up to 8192-bit Transport Layer Security (TLS) and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption, support of the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) for authentication, and SMTP authentication and encryption capabilities for emails generated by WebMux. WebMux is easily configured and added to a local network as a plug-and-run appliance. All WebMux models come with a full year limited product warranty, software firmware updates, and product technical support.
There is an ever-changing threat and vulnerability landscape that have businesses continually looking for ways to secure their systems due to repeated cyber attacks costing businesses billions of dollars all due to security oversights. The PCI Data Security Standards and Microsoft® policies have required dropping certain elements from cipher suites. Responding to these ever-more-rapidly changing requirements required a review of WebMux administration, to simplify it and enhance its capabilities. AVANU surveyed the requirements for cipher support by different standards organizations, evaluated browser capabilities, and responded to customer requirements with the WebMux enhancement. Firmware v10.0.02 includes improvements to the management interface to simplify cipher management needed for compliance and adds related security capabilities.
Additional security enhancements in firmware 10.0.02 include the key length extension to support up to 8192-bits for Transport Layer Security (TLS) and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) negotiation, in addition to WebMux’ TACACS+ support the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) integration was added for authentication to the WebMux Management Console, and SMTP authentication and encryption capabilities for internal status e-mails generated by the WebMux.
“We want to assure our customers of WebMux’ viability as an affordable, high performing, and reliable load balancing solution while keeping up with the security measures for managing their network traffic,” says Pamela Sun, President of AVANU.
Other already built-in WebMux security features include NAT/SNAT, Flood Control™ WebMux’ higher IP level protection, Smart DDoS Protection, Multiple Address & Port Mapping, IPv6 to IPv4, TCP SYN Protection, and HTTPS/SSH Management. WebMux meets the demanding load balancing needs for an extensive TCP-based range of applications and services. Other common names for network traffic managers include load balancers (LB), hardware load balancers (HLB), network load balancers (NLB), local traffic managers (LTM), and application delivery controllers (ADC).
Firmware version 10.0.02 is available to all customers using AVANU’s 64-bit platform WebMux model that is covered under the included Product Warranty and Support or Extended Annual Service Program. AVANU’s WebMux Traffic Management products come with a full year product warranty, software firmware updates, and product technical support.
