(PRWEB UK) 25 March 2014 -- AV Group has provided modular buildings to Graham Construction in its task of building new student accommodation at The University of Salford. It’s the first time AV Group have worked with Grahams and the company is delighted to have been selected on this prestigious £81m project, which will see 1367 new bed spaces created at the University's Peel Park campus.

AV Group installed 26 of its OpenSpace modular buildings across 2 different locations on campus.

Graham Construction chose AV Group because the OpenSpace product created the feel of a more permanent modular building and allowed as the name suggests, great open office spaces to be utilized. AV Group were also able to promise a very fast turnaround and delivery, getting all units on site in two days and installed in just four.

The modular buildings will provide the site management team, contractors and sub-contractors with access to the highest standard of welfare facilities including changing rooms, recreation spaces, canteen, washrooms, WCs, showers and open plan meeting rooms.

Delivery of the units provided the team with some interesting challenges as the space allocated to site the units was on a sports court to the rear of the busy University gym. The court had no road access and was adjacent to a steep hill which meant that the units had to be lifted in by a 250 tonne crane from the base of a hill.

Graham Construction commenced works on site in November and Campus Living Villages will manage the accommodation and welcome its first residents for the academic year 2015/16.

The new accommodation is designed to provide sustainable student living with an 'Excellent' BREEAM rating, alongside the best in student community living with generous reception area, social spaces - including TV and games room, gym, group study lounges, demonstration and private dining kitchen, launderette and a cinema room.
