Avision partners with Switzerland for U-space Implementation
FAA LAANC functionality is generally available in the USA. Avision LAANC and UTM (U-space) services are upcoming in Switzerland.
SANTA MONICA, Calif., Jan. 6, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Avision successfully completed a live Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM or U-space) system demonstration in Switzerland on Dec 30, 2019. The event is a culmination of strategic investment and relationship building efforts with federal government agencies, canton authorities, and local drone businesses. As a result, key Avision UTM services are being rolled out to the Swiss market along with Avision's new office opening in support of EU operations.
For the UTM demo in Lugano, several concurrent drone operations were planned and de-conflicted in the airspace prior to takeoff. In the middle of the flight execution, Avision platform generated UTM volume reservation (UVR) simulating emergency helicopter landing. The dynamic change in the airspace environment was transmitted to the pilots in real-time and visualized on Avision mobile App, which acts as a ground control station. The UVR impacted only one of the UTM authorized operations and the system triggered contingency management process for the automated return to the base while other active operations continued on their course. Avision UTM continuously tracked the drones in the airspace via networked Remote ID approach, based on the FAA proposed standard being adopted in the USA.
Avision is a provider of airspace and flight management technology for the global drone industry. In partnership with NASA since 2015, the company successfully completed a series of urban air mobility tests in Texas and Nevada in 2019. Avision is an FAA approved USS (UAS Service Supplier) for LAANC (low altitude authorization and notification capability) powering real-time digital flight authorizations in controlled airspace. LAANC functionality is natively integrated into Avision App and is generally available in the USA. For more information visit http://www.avision.io
