A lifelong activist, Cahill cultivated her passions for rural firefighters, bees/animals, and veterans to launch the Cahill Cares Fund.

Giving back, especially to veterans, is at the forefront of army brat and gold star family member Cahill’s heart and believes small things change the world. In 2009, her father, Michael Cahill, was killed protecting the lives of others during the terrorist attack at Fort Hood. In 2010 he was awarded the Secretary of the Army Award for Valor.

Cahill says, “As my career has begun to rise and I have been able to garner attention through my acting, it is important to me that I give back. I am an avid gardener with a deep appreciation for the land and our connection to it, and a gold star family member and army brat. I remember our entire community coming together and ranchers using their equipment to fight fires with their neighbors.

If every community had a large garden nearby, grocery bills go down, bees have nectar, and children have healthy food. If you come home after a long day or wake up from a short night, unable to sleep, a dog wagging its tail or licking your face can make a huge difference. If a rural fire department can get extra training or a vital piece of equipment, hayfields, forests, and homes can be saved. Cahill Cares is just starting, and I’m excited to see how we can grow.”

The Barking Dead Ball’s proceeds will benefit the community garden at Bastion House. Current sponsors include Paradigm Health System & Sterling Surgical Hospital; Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial; Tim Richardson, Esq.; Camp Bow Wow Covington & Mid-City; Tito’s Vodka for Dog People and TeddytheDog.com.
