...the total waiting period for maternity with AXA's SmartCare Exclusive plan has effectively been reduced from 24 months down to 12 months.

Pacific Prime clients with AXA's SmartCare Exclusive plan are now able to take advantage of their maternity benefits even sooner as the international insurance provider has recently reduced the total maternity waiting time down to 12 months.

Previously, the maternity benefits for AXA's General SmartCare Exclusive plan could only be added at renewal, one year after purchasing the policy. Afterwards, clients would have to wait the usual 12 months. In total, the client ended up having to wait 24 months.

As of October 1st, however, the maternity benefits can now be added on the day of purchase. Although the client must still wait the usual 12 months required by most insurance companies, the total waiting time for maternity with AXA's SmartCare Exclusive plan has effectively been reduced from 24 months down to 12 months.

The maternity benefit reimburses expenses up to a certain amount for normal delivery, c-section, complications in pregnancy during the antenatal period and childbirth, medically necessary ambulance transport, medically necessary miscarriage, and abortions including all pre and post-natal check-ups expenses.

For newborn children, this benefit reimburses the expenses incurred for physical examinations, nursing care, accommodation and other medically necessary costs for 15 days upon birth. However, it is important to remember that AXA, like most insurers, will not cover medical treatment related to pregnancy or childbirth during the waiting period.

The SmartCare Exclusive plan is a worldwide plan for individuals or group that offers direct billing service for both out-patient and in-patient procedures. There are no restrictions for nationality or hospital level, in-patient benefits can be sold alone (with the option of adding out-patient, dental, maternity and routine healthcare), and clients are provided with unlimited coverage for 24-hour overseas emergency assistance service.
