This complaint echoes hundreds of others currently pending in U.S. courts that allege Axiron and other low testosterone treatments caused users to suffer heart attacks, strokes and other serious cardiovascular problems.
New York, New York (PRWEB) October 04, 2014
A New Jersey man has filed an Axiron lawsuit (http://www.testosteronelawsuitclaims.com/axiron-lawsuit/) that alleges the testosterone therapy caused him to suffer a heart attack just a month after he began treatment, Bernstein Liebhard LLP reports. The complaint, which was filed on September 29th in the U.S. District Court, District of New Jersey, claims that Eli Lilly failed to adequately warn that the medication could cause serious heart problems in some users. The lawsuit further asserts that the Plaintiff’s doctor would not have prescribed Axiron if he had known about the increased health risks. (Case 2:14-cv-06039-CCC-MF)
“This complaint echoes hundreds of others currently pending in U.S. courts that allege Axiron and other low testosterone treatments caused users to suffer heart attacks, strokes and other serious cardiovascular problems," says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm is now evaluating legal claims on behalf of men who allegedly suffered heart attacks, strokes, deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism and other life-threatening heart problems due to their use of prescription testosterone medications.
Testosterone Treatment Litigation
According to court documents, testosterone treatment lawsuits have been mounting in U.S. courts since January 2014, when the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) announced it was investigating the cardiovascular risks associated with the drugs. According to the Associated Press, a panel of FDA advisors voted 20-1 last month to recommend that the drugs’ labels be revised to make clear they have not been shown to lessen low libido, fatigue, muscle loss and other age-related symptoms. The advisors also voted by the same margin to recommend that the manufacturers of testosterone replacement therapies be required to conduct studies of their cardiovascular side effects.*
Court records indicate that at least 200 testosterone lawsuits are now pending in the federal litigation underway in Illinois. All of the claims were filed on behalf of men who allegedly suffered life-threatening cardiovascular events due to their use of drugs like AndroGel, Axiron and Testim. Like the case filed in New Jersey, the plaintiffs involved in this litigation allege that the manufacturers of low testosterone therapies failed to warn doctors and patients about their potential risks, and concealed those dangers from the public.
