Backyard Travel Release New Tour: Travel the Magical Mekong from Myanmar to Vietnam
Bangkok, Thailand (PRWEB) July 12, 2013 -- The 17-day, 16-nights ‘Travel the Magical Mekong from Myanmar to Vietnam’ tour begins in Kengtung where travelers can ease into the epic journey with a relaxing guided trek around the scenic rolling hills to the 300 year-old monastery and the small hill tribe villages of Wan Nyat and Wang Seng.
The tailored trip then moves on to Chiang Mai in Thailand via the Golden Triangle region to visit some of the country’s most scenic countryside and majestic temples. While in Chiang Rai, travelers will stay at the eco-friendly Lanija Lodge, nestled high up in the green hills of the wonderful landscape and take tea with a local Hmong Shamen.
From Chiang Mai, the tour next visits Pakbeng, moving by boat across and into Laos as the tour makes its way to the spiritual capital of the country, Luang Prabang, visiting the Pak Ou Caves on the way.
The Southeast Asia trip then takes travelers to Pakse to learn all about the region and the local life that thrives due to the marvelous Mekong River. There are countless inhabited islands around this region, and this tour provides the opportunity for travelers to spend nights on Dong Daeng, Dong Khong and Dong Khone islands.
Passing into Cambodia, the tour then moves through the coastal province of Stung Treng before offering the chance to stay on another quaint island called Koh Trong.
Two nights in Phnom Penh offer a vibrant balance of city life after the small rural regions and idyllic islands, before the tour then moves through the beach resort town of Kep, where the tour spends one night on the way into Vietnam.
The unique adventure along the Mekong climaxes with one night in Can Tho, Vietnam before coming to an end in Ho Chi Minh City.
