Baker Electric Inc. Receives First Place Safety Award at the AGC National Convention
Escondido, Calif. (PRWEB) March 14, 2014 -- Baker Electric Inc. is pleased to announce it received first place in the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) Construction Safety Excellence Awards in the Specialty Contractor Division, 700,001 to 1 million work-hours category. In recognition of the electrical contractor’s industry-leading safety program, the AGC named Baker Electric Inc. a national winner at the organization’s 15th Annual Construction Safety Excellence Awards breakfast held at the 95th Annual AGC National Convention in Las Vegas on March 5, 2014.
The AGC’s CSEA program, sponsored by Willis, is the industry’s elite safety excellence awards program for construction companies of all sizes and occupational divisions. It recognizes companies that have developed and implemented premiere safety and loss prevention programs and showcases companies that have achieved continuous improvements and maintenance of their safety and health management systems.
After receiving first place at the local AGC San Diego Chapter level, the local chapter nominated Baker Electric Inc. for this year’s AGC America CSEA award at the national level. Members of the AGC America Safety & Health Committee reviewed the submissions to determine finalists for the awards. As a finalist, Baker Electric Inc. executives, President Ted Baker, Vice President of Construction Operations Jim Gagnon and Safety Director Angie McAnelly gave an oral presentation to the 2014 CSEA Final Judges at the convention.
Baker Electric Inc. was awarded first place for its safety program in the Specialty Contractor Division, 700,001 to 1 million work-hours category based on: management’s commitment to safety; the new programs, procedures and resources it uses to promote safety; its employees involvement in safety; the specific unique activities it does to promote safety; and the fact that there were no fatalities or multi-catastrophic injuries in 2013. The selection process covered qualitative measures, program evaluation checklists, and qualitative essays. In its entry, Baker Electric Inc. demonstrated outstanding safety and loss prevention management including risk controls, safety training, work site hazard identification and safety program innovations.
The following company representatives were in attendance at the AGC National Convention: President, Ted Baker; Safety Director, Angie McAnelly, CHST, CISEC, QSP; Vice President of Pre-Construction, Keith Fleming; and Vice President of Construction Operations, Jim Gagnon, SCPM, LEED, AP.
