Harlingen Attorney Ricardo Barrera Presented Two Prestigious Awards in June
Harlingen, Tx (PRWEB) June 30, 2014 -- Texas Tech School of Law graduate and Harlingen attorney Ricardo Barrera was honored twice in June with respected awards from both the Cameron County Bar Association and the Texas Tech University School of Law and their alumni association.
On June 6th, Barrera was given the 2014 Pro-Bono Award by the Cameron County Bar Association at their annual dinner. The award is given annually to recognize a lawyer or law firm for efforts in “providing access to or the delivery of direct legal services free of charge to the poor, or in appropriate instances, to charitable organizations whose primary purpose is to provide other services to the poor, or to other non-profit organizations that provide services to the public.”
Barrera was recognized for his efforts in helping the underprivileged and for assisting the family of an attorney who passed away, to complete his obligations that existed at the time of his death.
Commenting on his award, Barrera said, “I believe that being an attorney means that one has an obligation to serve the community. I thank all the individuals that do the same. There is no substitute for an attorney that truly cares, and here at The Barrera Law Firm, we truly take service to heart.”
The Texas Tech University School of Law held their 2014 Alumni Association Awards in Austin on June 26th in conjunction with the State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting. The G.O.L.D. Awards (Graduate of the Law Decade) recognize an alumnus who graduated during the last decade for significant achievements in the practice of law, the judiciary, public service, government, business, or commerce.
This year, there were three awardees: Priscilla Camacho ’05, VP of Education/Workforce Development at The Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, San Antonio, Texas; Chad West ’06, Chad West, PLLC, Dallas, Texas and Ricardo Barrera ’05, The Barrera Law Firm, Harlingen, Texas.
