Battling Sepsis and Elevating the Patient Experience with AI: University Hospitals Selects Jvion’s Cognitive Machine
ATLANTA (PRWEB) September 05, 2018 -- University Hospitals (UH) – one of the nation’s leading health care systems, delivering high-quality, patient-centered care throughout Northeast Ohio – selected Jvion’s Cognitive Machine to further drive down rates of sepsis and improve the patient experience. The AI capabilities delivered by Jvion will be applied to the primary prevention of both inpatient and community sepsis, and to improving patient satisfaction.
“With Jvion’s solution, we will be able to deliver individualized predictions, prioritizations, and actionable recommendations into the hands of our clinicians,” said Dr. Jeff Sunshine, Chief Medical Information Officer for UH. “Our goal is to leverage AI to positively and effectively impact quality, safety, and operational outcomes.”
As the second largest employer in Northeast Ohio, UH provides quality and personalized coordinated care through 18 hospitals, including the nationally ranked University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, UH Seidman Cancer Center and UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s. UH has more than 25,000 employees, more than 4,700 providers and serves 1.2 million patients annually. By incorporating advanced AI capabilities, UH expands its ability to deliver superior clinical outcomes and a personalized care experience.
“AI really represents the next generation of care enablement,” said Terri Keeling, Vice President, Patient, Physician & Innovation IT Services for UH. “With Jvion’s Cognitive Machine, we have a comprehensive tool that will help us provide each patient with an experience that is customized to his or her medical, emotional and social needs.”
Jvion’s solution will be rolled out system-wide through a phased approach that ensures localization of the machine to the broad and diverse communities served by UH hospitals. With Jvion’s risk and intervention recommendations, UH clinicians will be better able to target patients at risk of sepsis before any clinical signs are present. In addition, the provider will be able to proactively identify gaps in the patient experience so that patient satisfaction and care quality are improved.
“Working with UH provides us a great opportunity to bring advanced AI capabilities to a large population of patients,” said Dr. John Showalter, Chief Product Officer for Jvion. “This is a very exciting project that combines two interesting applications of our cognitive machine in order to change the way we prevent deterioration and gaps in care delivery.”
About Jvion
Jvion delivers healthcare’s only Cognitive Clinical Success Machine. Using Eigen-based technology, the machine does what simple predictive analytics or machine learning models cannot. It goes beyond high-risk patient populations to identify those on a trajectory to becoming high risk. It determines the interventions that will more effectively reduce risk and enable clinical action. And it accelerates time to value by leveraging established Eigen Spheres to drive intelligence across hospitals, populations, and patients. Stop being predictive. Start being cognitive.
