NEW YORK, Nov. 21, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Three years ago "Blankets of Hope" was a simple family project.
Mike and Nick Fiorito, Bay Ridge residents, created a GoFundMe page to raise money to buy blankets for the homeless. It was their way of giving back during the holiday season.
After purchasing the 100 blankets, the brothers attached an inspirational handwritten note to each one before handing them out on the streets of NYC.
The brothers enjoyed the project so much they decided to increase their distribution 10 fold to 1,000 blankets the following year.
This year, the brothers are once again growing the program 10 fold with a goal of 10,000 Blankets of Hope by the end of winter.
But they can't do it alone.
In addition to handing out the blankets themselves, they are partnering with schools to help them reach their goal.
The brothers are sending blankets to schools all across the country, and after receiving a lesson on kindness and compassion, thousands of students will write personalized notes and deliver them to their local homeless shelters.
The brothers say their ultimate goal is to inspire a massive movement of kindness.
