BC Marketing Entrepreneur Recognized for her Work
Canadian Marketing Entrepreneur Receives BC Foundation Award. Katherine Dodds of Hello Cool Ward recognized for her contributions to impact production.
VICTORIA, British Columbia, May 02, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Territories of the W̱SÁNEĆ, Te'mexw Treaty Association, Lekwungen/Songhees Peoples, May 1. Katherine Dodds, the legendary founder of Hello Cool World and the social marketing powerhouse behind some of BC and Canada's most forward thinking impact campaigns, in public health promotion, gender and social justice, and Indigenous solidarity, including the Canadian box office champs The Corporation (2003), and last year's feature film hit Indian Horse, was honoured with a 2019 BC Community Achievement award yesterday in Victoria.
The awards are handed out to a handful of people very year who embody the spirit of community in the province. Based in Vancouver but working with organizations all over, Hello Cool World has no purely corporate clients; Hello Cool World restricts its work to causes and initiatives that will help right the lopsided scales of social justice.
"Getting this award is a surprise and a big honour" says Hello Cool World founder and Impact Producer Katherine Dodds (AKA "Kat"). "When I founded Hello Cool World, I always envisioned it a collaborative effort, so to be recognized in this way is both humbling and gratifying. This award belongs in part, to all those who are working with me, to create positive change in the world, and even to shake up the way business-as-usual is defined! I couldn't possibly do this alone."
"Hello Cool World is going through its biggest evolution in years," she added. The company is introducing a new progressive web app for impact filmmakers, titled "Cool World", for producers, distributors, independent filmmakers and even festivals who currently find it challenging to manage the digital rights, the contacts, and the marketing of new films. This tool will help build audiences across projects, using the power of the collective reach to help drive awareness, sales and impact.
"Cool World" is launching in June and will bring considerable marketing power to filmmakers, including new suite of software that combines Digital Rights Management (DRM) for activist films and powerful social listening and list-building tools (Nexalogy and SqueezeCMM) integrated with a progressive issue-based solution to Customer Relationship Management (CRM).
"Kat is a force of nature and has done so much for the industry and province - no one deserves this award more than her," said Sue Biely, President, Nudge Consulting. "She has made a substantial contribution to the industry not only in BC but across Canada and the US, and is a sought-after partner for that very reason. What she is building will connect people."
"Katherine has inspired a generation of writers, artists, activists, filmmakers and media strategists across the province," states the BC Achievement Foundation in its press release announcing its 2019 award recipients, the ceremony for which was attended by BC premier John Horgan and other provincial dignitaries.
