University of Winchester Choose Beplas Elite PVC Panels for Halls Of Residence Ensuites
(PRWEB) October 10, 2014
During the 2014 summer vacation period, the hygienic wall and ceiling company, Beplas, were chosen to provide PVC panels for the University of Winchester as part of an 8-week improvement program of their halls of residence. Beplas’ panels were used to replace existing tiling in 63 en-suite shower and toilet facilities across the campus. The tiles were showing significant signs of age, requiring regular maintenance, whilst the grouting was hard to clean.
The University chose Beplas Elite PVC due to its proven cleanability, certified fire performance and bespoke fitting system.
The Elite PVC Panels and fixing systems were delivered over a 3 month period, enabling the
installation to be carried out in a structured and competent manner. Panels were stored indoors, covered, to minimise any potential damage in the working environment.
As Alan Marshall of The University of Winchester’s Maintenance Department stated: “We required split deliveries as we had little room for secure storage.Beplas’ planned phased delivery and ability to deliver goods overnight if necessary was crucial to the way we managed this project”.
The panels were fixed with a full coverage adhesive system using the multi bead adhesive applicator. This system enables the contractor to apply the adhesive in a clean and consistent
manner. It also allows for maximum efficiency in adhesive usage with little waste and a very clean application of the sheet.
Complementing the Elite PVC sheets are the Trimline profiles, used to seal the panel system. The panels were sealed with a 2 piece Trimline H bar, 2 piece Trimline capping strip and coving detail. The quality of the PVC also allows for easy and accurate thermoforming for internal and external corners. A line bender was purchased to achieve this finish.
The new installation will allow University cleaning teams to perform their tasks quicker and more efficiently than previously possible.
Marshall added: “We are extremely happy with the outcome of using Beplas Elite PVC Systems as the solution to the wall cladding project in our continuing drive to maintain and upgrade our student facilities. Our Cleaning Teams are delighted with the ease of cleaning The Elite PVC system gives them in the en-suite facilities. We are looking forward to many years of low maintenance use and will certainly consider the product for future projects.”
Allowances in the order process had been made for the odd installation error, but as this was minimal, a small number of additional panels have been left with the Maintenance Department to be trialled in further areas of the University that require both wall protection and a hygienic finish.
