Belatrix Software Joins Key Blockchain Initiative To Transform Public Services
NEW YORK (PRWEB) January 29, 2019 -- Belatrix Software, a leading software development company, has joined the Blockchain Federal Argentina (BFA). This is a public blockchain initiative in the country, which provides a platform upon which public and private organizations will be able to develop services.
The blockchain initiative does not involve bitcoin or another cryptocurrency. Instead it provides a transparent and trustworthy platform for organizations to deploy services or applications from. There are numerous use cases for such a blockchain platform - from authenticating the validity of documents to improving the traceability of products. Already universities in Argentina have announced they want to use the platform to help confirm academic qualifications.
The project is being led by the Argentine Internet Chamber of Commerce (Cabase), together with other public, private, and academic organizations in the country (particularly the Network Information Center Argentina, NIC, and the Association of University Interconnection Networks, ARIU). Several universities are also involved in the project, including Palermo University, National University of Cordoba, and the National University of San Juan.
This initiative is part of a broader growth in public blockchains, which has been witnessed around the world. Research by the OECD found there the number public blockchains almost doubled between 2017 and 2018, to 202 initiatives in 45 countries as of March 2018. Use cases range from voting, to improved supply chain management, to more effective identity management for citizens.
Andrés González Andújar, Director of the Business Integration and Analytics center of excellence, and responsible for Belatrix’s Blockchain Lab, and who has been managing the participation of Belatrix in the BFA, stated that the first priority will be to get sealer and gateway nodes up and running to help the growth of the network. Commenting, he said, “I’m sure that using blockchain to validate information will become key to ensuring transparency and reliability in both public and private environments, and BFA is a big step in that direction”.
In a recent blog post, Belatrix President and Co-founder, Alex Robbio, wrote that this is “a bold move by Argentina, using the latest technology to ultimately provide a real benefit to citizens...a public blockchain can help ensure transparency and efficiency in its public sector, and ultimately deliver better services to citizens”.
