New Best Drug Rehabilitation Blog Post Focuses on Dangerous Designer Drug GHB
(PRWEB) May 07, 2014 -- Best Drug Rehabilitation, which offers treatment programs and believes that having family close by during a stay in rehab can make a big difference in whether or not the process is successful, is focusing on the dangerous designer drug DHB (gamma hydroxybutyrate) in its latest blog post.
Also known as the “date rape” drug because it depresses the central nervous system and, when mixed with alcohol can render a person – or a victim – unconscious, GHB is also referred to by a variety of street names, including “liquid ecstasy”, “G”, “cups” and “Georgia homeboy”, among other.
The blog post also notes that GHB comes in four forms: clear liquid, white powder, tablets and capsules. It has no color or smell, which is why it’s undetectable in drinks. Even more worrisome is the fact that GHB can be made quite easily at home using two primary ingredients, gamma butyrolactone (GBL) and sodium hydroxide – substances that are often found in drain cleaners and stripping solvents.
“Since 1992, more than 3,500 people have died from a GHB overdose,” commented Best Drug Rehabilitation’s CEO Per Wickstrom. “Some people also try and use GHB as way to reduce the ill-effects of cocaine, LSD or methamphetamines. Unfortunately, this is a recipe for disaster, because GHB cannot prevent withdrawal symptoms; it can merely mask them. The underlying damage is still happening in the body.”
Individuals struggling with a GHB addiction, or family members and friends who are deeply concerned about a loved one’s substance addiction or abuse issues, can contact a certified local inpatient treatment facility for answers and advice. They can also speak with recovering and recovered addicts in order to better understand the process and challenges involved.”
