On Saturday, May 16th, 2015, the Manistee, MI chapter of the Kiwanis Club held a fundraising golf outing at the Manistee Golf and Country Club. Best Drug Rehabilitation staff members were delighted to join in for this day of fun, where proceeds went to a good cause, helping underprivileged children. Kiwanis International, the parent of the Manistee Kiwanis Club, is a global organization that works to bring aid to children in need. The golf outing fundraiser was held to support local service activities directed towards youth education and enhancement in the area.
“Our children are the most important asset that we have in America,” commented Best Drug Rehabilitation founder and CEO Per Wickstrom. “The work that this organization and its members do, enriching the lives of our teens and young adults, goes a long way toward helping our youth keep clear of the dangerous path of drug and alcohol abuse. Participation in events like the Kiwanis Golf Outing is just another way that we can give back to the community that BDR calls home.”
Kiwanis International was originally founded in 1915 in Detroit, MI with the objective of providing services to the poor and promoting economic growth in the area. Now headquartered in Indianapolis, IN, the Kiwanis has grown to over 600,000 members in over 80 countries and geographical locations, raising over $100 million annually to provide aid to children in need and volunteering more than 18 million hours of service, all while living under the slogan “Serving the Children of the World”.
The Manistee Kiwanis Golf Scramble sought to help provide funding for a host of local programs and activities aimed at area youth, including Boy Scout and Girl Scout activities, college scholarships, athletic, academic and art camps and programs and other community services. The golf event also held a 50/50 cash raffle, a prize raffle, a silent auction, and other fundraising activities. The Manistee Kiwanis Club will donate 100% of the proceeds from the golf outing to those programs and to help Kiwanis International in their focus on the special needs of young children.
“A major part of our philosophy at Best Drug Rehabilitation is continued community outreach and contributing our assistance wherever and whenever we can,” continued Wickstrom. “By lifting up and supporting the area residents, particularly the youth, we can help make a difference in the lives of those who need it. Whether it comes in the form of a charitable contribution, volunteering our time or participating in fundraising activities like this Golf Scramble, we are always ready to extend a helping hand.”
