During Fourth of July weekend in Arizona last year, more than 1,800 officers made a total of 11,380 stops, resulting in 443 DUIs, according to Phoenix New Times. A total of 151 of those arrests involved drivers with a blood alcohol content greater than .15 percent. And out of the thousands of stops, approximately 43 percent of drivers were given a speeding or civil violation.

Approximately 67 percent of those killed in holiday drunk driving accidents were in an accident where the driver had a BAC of .15 or higher, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Studies also revealed that Fourth of July weekend fatal car accidents were three times more likely to occur at night rather than during the day.
