As a Colorado orthopedic surgeon, Dr. LaPrade specializes in the treatment of complex knee and sports medicine injuries at The Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colorado. He serves as the Chief Medical Officer and Co-Director of the Sports Medicine Fellowship Program at the Steadman Philippon Research Institute, and Research Committee Chair for the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. Dr. LaPrade has also been awarded "One of the Best Doctors in America" and "One of the Most Compassionate Doctors."

Internationally recognized in the orthopedic community for his sports medicine research, Dr. LaPrade began his research at the University of Minnesota and has continued his research at the Steadman Philippon Research Institute. This year, Dr. LaPrade surpassed his 200th peer-reviewed study. To date, there are only a few clinicians, scientists and surgeons who have reached this milestone in sports medicine research.

Dr. LaPrade has focused his research on the anatomy, biomechanics, and anatomic based reconstructions of the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), posterolateral corner (PLC), anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), meniscus and articular cartilage of the knee. Many of the current anatomic-based knee reconstructions used around the world were designed and tested based upon Dr. LaPrade’s research.
