"Betty Cares was created with the desire to help others and give back to the community. This designation as a public charity allows us to help even more families in different areas."
Betty Cares was founded by Kira and Jason Turchin in memory of Kira's mother Betty, whose selfless acts of supporting a loved one who had cancer led to her early death by neglecting signs of her own advanced illness. Kira is a biomedical engineer with undergraduate and master's degrees from University of Miami. She is also a PhD candidate in engineering and communication. She was an Adjunct Professor at the University of Miami prior to her mother's illness and death.
