NEW YORK, Jan. 15, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- BIA, a leading national eDiscovery and forensic services provider, today announced the promotion of Barry Schwartz, Esq., to senior vice president of advisory services and associate general counsel.
"For almost 10 years now, Barry has provided invaluable advice and insights to our clients, expertly guiding them to the best course of action, ensuring defensibility and efficiency at every step," said BIA CEO and President Brian Schrader. "He is trained and skilled in law, strategy, analytics, privacy, review methodologies, various technologies and more – a true expert in all aspects of eDiscovery and related matters." In recent years, Barry has also been given the responsibilities of General Counsel.
Schwartz joined BIA in 2009 as director of advisory services and was promoted to vice president of advisory services prior to this latest promotion. As a BIA client-facing senior advisor, he guides clients at a high level to achieve specific project goals, assisting in a variety of areas including litigation and discovery, data retention and management, document review, regulatory compliance and IT security. Schwartz also serves as BIA's leading GDPR expert.
"One of the exciting things I have experienced about this industry is the rapid growth in the amount of data related to eDiscovery and how we work with it. This now includes not only the traditional repositories of documents, but also cloud resources and social media platforms of all sorts that we have adapted to with remote collection technologies," said Schwartz. "Using increasingly robust review platforms and advanced analytics, our teams can apply best practices to efficiently and defensibly collect, review and produce this vast amount of data within the time constraints that always exist."
Schwartz is a licensed attorney, a Certified eDiscovery Specialist (CEDS) and a certified Brainspace 6 Analyst. He leads regular education sessions and has authored articles and white papers within the industry.
"Barry has been instrumental in BIA's growth and offerings, including our eDiscovery Best Practices Guides, which we custom-create for our clients. We're excited to see what he will do next," said Schrader.
