The Fourth Annual NoSQL NOW! Conference held in San Jose, CA, August 19-21, was the world’s largest, vendor-neutral, educational forum for NoSQL (Not Only SQL) technologies. Various topics at this forum helped individuals to learn about opportunities associated with use of NoSQL in the Enterprise; in the Cloud: on the Web; for Big Data; and for Scale and Performance—especially in Big Data environments. Over 1100 Technology Architects, Managers, and Evaluators from around the world attended this conference. Scientel enjoyed outstanding response for its 5-minute and 45-minute presentations on GENSONIX® DB with its emphasis this year for NoSQL on HPC with MPP capabilities.

Scientel was also an exhibitor with its live demonstration of the Scientel ECMS Enterprise Content Management System. Scientel presented its Gensonix Enterprise NoSQL DBMS and related Big Data capabilities in two sessions: 5-minute “Lightning” overview on August 19th; and 45-minute formal presentation on August 20th.

The 5-minute “Lightning” session provided a quick overview of Scientel, its Gensonix NoSQL DBMS, and how Scientel is different as the first company to promote a NoSQL DB with its related Big Data capabilities. The 45-minute formal presentation—which turned into a virtual “standing-room-only” event--further expanded on how Gensonix supports Massively Parallel Processing on its LDWA series of HPC systems. MPP as it applies to Databases and Large Data Warehouses is a method in which proportional components of a Database are processed in parallel--that is, essentially simultaneously, in exactly the same "batch"--by a large number of equal (peer) nodes in the same system/server. This concept does not apply to DB systems where the DB components are only stored/managed by nodes that are not peers but slaves and hence not identically and fully processed by them. Designed for high volume and velocity, this concept works well on systems that scale out (NoSQL) rather than scale up (SQL).

Scientel’s 45-minute presentation provided in-depth coverage on how companies could process massive amounts of true Big Data in a single pass on its HPC systems rather than utilizing the typical 5-step ETL process. Added capabilities of Gensonix include its ultra-powerful NSQL™© language which supports multiple data structures for structured and unstructured data. Unlike many other NoSQL DB’s, Gensonix supports relational type tables to accurately process structured data with transaction compliant capabilities making Gensonix the ideal NoSQL DB for Analytics. Other primary aspects were also described, such as: Gensonix NSQL language is native to low level languages such as C; supports many intrinsic functions; and performs easy recursive database/computing operations. Supporting multi-dimensional array processing, Gensonix is capable of very efficient analysis of vast amounts of structured and unstructured data at ultrahigh speeds.

Brief example case studies were presented, which showed how: (a) Gensonix processes data in non-typical relational environments with its graph like capabilities for multi-level explosions; (b) Gensonix can tackle complex procedural problems that are difficult or nearly impossible with SQL and certain other types of database solutions; (c) Gensonix fully processes Trillion-record level large data tables with its network structures thus avoiding the use of table joins.
