BINGHAMTON, N.Y., Oct. 2, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- In 2015, Binghamton native Everett De Morier released his first novel entitled THIRTY-THREE CECILS. Because a great deal of the book was set in the Binghamton area, the publisher launched the book in The Triple Cities in August of 2015, with book signings, media events and a launch party.
The novel went on to win the top fiction prize at The London Book Festival, was named small publisher book-of-the-year by Heroic Magazine, is required High School reading, was given a public recognition by Mayor Robin Christianson, and then one by Governor Jack Markell, and is currently being adapted into a major motion picture.
And now, the author is repeating this launch process with his new book THE INVENTION OF EVERYTHING; Insights on Life, Food, and One Good Thermos. A collection of the best-of articles from 543 Magazine.
"There is a great piece in the new book about The Terrace Tavern in Apalachin," says De Morier. "About how a young man sees the world and then how that view changes as he gets older."
Lynn Walsh, owner of The Terrace Tavern, was flattered when the article was first published in 543 Magazine, and was even more so when she learned that this piece was chosen for the new book. So much so that she offered to host a pre-launch party at The Terrace.
As did Ed Hickey, owner of The Belmar Pub, a location that is prominent in the novel THIRTY-THREE CECILS.
"So we're making an entire weekend out of it," says Tara Tomczyk, Editor-in-chief of Blydyn Square Books, the publisher of both titles. "The official launch for the book is December, but we are pre-launching it in the Binghamton area with a few launch parties, book signings, some radio and other media stops and will have a small video team with us to document it all."
But as excited as the author is to come back home, there is one event of that weekend that is high on his list.
"I'm having a sandwich named after me," the author laughs. "Which is the coolest thing in the world."
The Old World Deli of Binghamton, which is mentioned in the new book, is naming a sandwich after the author.
THE INVENTION OF EVERYTHING; Insights on Life, Food, and one good Thermos will have a book reception and signing at The Belmar Pub on Friday, October 26th from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, a sandwich dedication at The Old World Deli at 2:00 pm on then a reception and book signing at The Terrace Tavern in Apalachin on Saturday the 27th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
