Social Media Depression Interview on the "Ask Dr. Nandi" Show with Birmingham Maple Clinic Therapist
Birmingham, MI (PRWEB) September 11, 2013 -- Social Media Depression is a hot topic in today’s social media-driven culture, and as more and more people have their lives entwined with social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, they are increasingly affected by this relatively new psychological phenomena.
The Birmingham Maple Clinic, based in Troy, Michigan, wants to lead the way in tackling this new "disorder" at its root. Beyond its treatment initiatives for social media depression, the Birmingham Maple Clinic is engaging in public education events to help people become aware of this not-so-understood phenomena. To start, one of Birmingham Maple Clinic’s therapists that helps treat patients with social media depression, Carrie Krawiec, LMFT, will be interviewed on the “Ask Dr. Nandi” Show on the Impact Network.
The show will be shot in front of a live studio audience on September 29th at 1 p.m., and will be available on Impact or live via Dr. Nandi's website.
Lori Edelson, director at the Birmingham Maple Clinic, had this to say about the interview: “As a clinic that prides itself in always discovering new treatment methods for new disorders and for addressing the evolving needs of the community we serve, we are very excited to have the opportunity to raise public awareness of the effects of social media depression through a show like “Ask Dr. Nandi." This type of depression, which teens are especially vulnerable to, is an issue that will become mainstream as more and more people adopt social media into their everyday lives.”
Birmingham Maple Clinic is the leading family mental health clinic in Michigan. The clinic treats common psychological issues such as depression, ADHD, and eating disorders, and offers counseling for issues like marriage/relationship problems, substance abuse, and grief or loss.
The “Ask Dr. Nandi” Show is a new show that airs on the Impact Network and streams online via their website. It focuses on relevant and popular health issues, and features health professionals that are experts within those fields. Dr. Nandi discusses serious and difficult health issues on the show without any sensationalism, hoping to offer practical advice to help solve them.
