Bay Fastening Systems, a Blind Rivet Distributor, Comments on China’s Soon-To-Be World’s Tallest Building
Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) August 13, 2013 -- On August 13, Bay Fastening systems, a full service distributor of engineered fastening systems, comments on an article from CNN that discusses how China has started construction on the world’s tallest building.
A July 25th article titled “China Starts Work On World’s Tallest Building” from CNN.com discusses how China will be home to the world’s tallest building in less than a year. The article states that Burj Khalifa, the current tallest building in the world, will be number two as China’s projected 838 meter Sky City skyscraper in Changsha overtakes it. The article reports that the company building Sky City, The Broad Group, expects the building to be completed around April 2014. Sky City reportedly costs $1.46 billion to build, or 9 billion RMB.
Cliff Bernard, President and CEO of Bay Fastening Systems, a full service blind rivet distributor, comments on the story. “It is amazing how fast the Sky City skyscraper is being built, with just 10 months to build a 202 story building. The Burj Khalifa, the current tallest building in the world, took over 5 years to build.”
According to the article, the Sky City building is to house more than 30,000 people and have a “shopping mall, school, hospital, office areas, roof garden, amusement park, sports facilities, organic farm and a 10-kilometer ‘walking street.’” The building will act as a city itself, in hopes of keeping at least 2,000 cars off of the Changsha streets.
The article goes on to state that more than 10 cities in China are planning to build at least one building taller than NYC’s new One World Trade Center, which stands at 541 meters. According to the article, Motiancity.com “defines ‘skyscrapers’ as buildings taller than 152 meters (498 feet), [and] also reports that China currently has 470 skyscrapers, 332 under construction and 516 planned but unconfirmed.”
