Gary O'Neil Discusses "How My Personal Philosophy of Leadership Built a 500 Million Dollar Business"
New York, NY (PRWEB) September 17, 2013 -- Gary O’Neil from N2ITIV Solutions, the blog for startups and entrepreneurs, has just posted a new article and animated video module entitled, “How My Personal Philosophy of Leadership Built a $500 Million Dollar Business.” This post and video offers advice on how to be a great leader and the various steps a leader must take in order to build a great team.
O'Neil, having been a creative director and a brand specialist for some of the world’s top brands and personalities including JC Penney and media and fashion mogul Russell Simmons, has released this video module in order to help new and aspiring entrepreneurs understand the key elements necessary in creating leadership that stands the test of time
In the first section, O’Neil discusses the importance to both inspire and serve the team. He explains how the management style and environment a leader creates are the key components to creating a culture where excellence is the expectation.
The next section covers what separates a great culture from a lackluster one. O’Neil believes that lackluster leaders are not able to identify why a company is doing what they are doing. Without this identification, a company is lost at sea before it sets sail. O’Neil uses Tedx Speaker Simon Sinek as the leadership expert in the discussion of WHY. He cites Sinek’s main explanation that ‘People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you are doing it’. O’Neil believes this is the first step in being an effective leader.
O’Neil recalls when he first came into JC Penney and what he said to the people he was managing. O’Neil believes a great leader needs to make their team an important resource by demonstrating expertise and authority. O’Neil adds, “A team needs to build a sense of authority amongst themselves before they can build that authority to anyone else.” It is also important to build trust with the other people within the company.
O’Neil believes establishing confidence is also a key component a leader needs to instill in his or her team in order to achieve excellence. The second half of the module discusses the key components necessary to create that confidence in a way that empowers the team and how to encourage team members to work together in order to achieve the goals of the company as a whole and how to reward everyone once those goals are achieved.
This is the first video of the leadership series. O'Neil and his partner MJ Gottlieb have also completed 8 training modules on branding and 4 additional training modules for the startup entrepreneur who may not know where to go or what to do. They are all available for free on the N2ITIV website.
