Avid Vintage Rock Poster Collector, Andrew Hawley, Announces His Search for Original 1963 Bob Dylan Town Hall New York Boxing Style Concert Poster
San Francisco, California (PRWEB) December 30, 2013 -- Avid Vintage Rock Poster Collector, Andrew Hawley of Vintage Rock Posters, announces his search for original 1963 Bob Dylan Town Hall New York boxing style concert poster. The Town Hall concert is considered Dylan's first high profile concert.
The concert was held on April 12, 1963. According to Hawley, "Since 1961, Dylan had been playing the New York City folk clubs including Gerde's Folk City. The Town Hall show was a major step in Dylan's career. The concert was promoted by Harold Lenventhal who promoted many of the top folk acts in the 1960s in the New York area. Lenventhal was Woody Guthrie’s manager."
Hawley adds,” The Dylan Town Hall poster was black and white and featured many different quotes and compliments given to Dylan by the local press and newspaper writers. About 50 posters were printed and hung in local coffee shops and other locations around Manhattan. An 8 x 10 inch concert handbill was also printed and distributed at local record stores. The Dylan image used on Town Hall poster would also be used for the Lisner Auditorium in Washington D.C. and Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor, Michigan venue posters."
