Bob Strauss follows the lives of wounded, flawed individuals struggling to overcome grief and unfathomable loss to fully embrace life and love again in his enlightening new novel, "Dancing in the Dark" (published by iUniverse).
Set in New York City, the novel’s main characters are Dr. Harry Salinger, Jennifer Slater, Jacques Giraud and Amanda Blake. Two love stories take place, one between Harry and Amanda, the other between Jennifer and Jacques. Harry is pivotal because he is the therapist for both Jennifer and Jacques. Both relationships are hedged by anxiety.
Readers will be able to identify with Strauss’ cast of complex, fully realized characters. "Each one is endearing in his or her way, and sometimes also maddening," he explains. "There are no villains, only humans with typical human frailties. The story is also suffused with the humor of everyday life, such as when Jennifer and Jacques argue over toilet paper."
An excerpt from "Dancing in the Dark":
"…he could have prophesied…that a skinny and inconsequential piece of cloth barely larger than a subatomic particle could never have efficiently concealed the entire warp and woof of his girlfriend’s nether hair."
